K.W. Smith and Son humbly began when Ken Smith Jr. set out to start a business that could provide for his growing family. With years of schooling and HVAC experience under his belt, Ken boldly stepped out and started his company in January of 1988. Ken’s tenacity paid off as he walked door-to-door seeking customers in need of his repair and maintenance services. Starting as a one-man team he managed to run his office out of an extra bedroom in his home. His company then grew quickly as he continued to provide a trustworthy and consistent service that customers appreciated. With business growing, Ken was then able to pick up more technicians to accommodate the customers’ needs, as well as move his bedroom office to his basement in order to manage the growing workload. Ken’s father, Ken Smith Sr., joined the ranks and offered his experience in the HVAC field as well, further rooting the business within his family. Within 6 years of beginning K.W. Smith and Son, the basement office no longer sufficed, and a new property was purchased in order to better serve customers and accommodate the growing work load. Years later, Ken’s son, Jeremy, would step into the company at the age of 18 and work for his father as a technician. Jeremy worked as a technician for years before being brought in to manage the office and serve the company as Vice President. Since its humble beginnings as a one-man company in a single bedroom, K.W. Smith and Son has grown into a family business that carries 15 full-time employees to service the Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. region. They are now located in Manassas Park, Virginia where they are able to facilitate their cross-region operations.
Ken’s honest work ethic and management skills have built the company into the solid corporation that it is today. K.W. Smith and Son’s philosophy has always been centered around honest and quality work that makes the customer feel as though they are a part of our family. Our desire is for you to trust our workmanship and advice with the full understanding that our recommendations are for the benefit of the customer without an additional monetary incentive. After years of technical training and experience, our goal is to repair defected items, rather than to replace parts and materials that have yet to live to their expected lifespan. Our technicians are not commission based, and are paid for honestly completing their work in a respectful and timely manner.
